LAMP FLASH CODES
Reading trouble codes by means of the CHECK ENGINE (MIL) lamp can be done as soon as the ignition switch is turned to the ON position. Reading of the trouble codes can be repeated as often as required until the trouble code memory has been cleared.
The diagnostic trouble code memory is cleared by means of an ISAT Scan Tool. The trouble code memory will not be cleared if the control module power supply fails or is disconnected.
Read out diagnostic trouble codes as follows:
1. Switch OFF the engine.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
3. Connect pin 2 of the car's 10-pin data link connector (located under the right-hand front seat) to ground (use the test lamp to avoid a short circuit). Lamp flash code readout will continue as long as pin 2 remains grounded.
4. The lamp flash codes are of two-digit type.
Each digit consists of a number of 0.4 s flashes. An interval of 1.2 s occurs between the presentation of each digit in the two-digit code.
5. Lamp flash code readout will continue as long as pin 2 remains grounded. The interval between two distinct lamp flash codes is 3.2 s.
IMPORTANT: Diagnostic trouble codes should be used only for purposes of diagnosing faults. It is not absolutely certain that they indicate a faulty component.
