SUBJECT:
Data Link Connector
APPLICATION:
All 1994 900 Models
(Excluding Convertibles)
SUPERSEDES: 03/94-0439
When using ISAT, if you are unable to contact the vehicle's on-board diagnostics, you may have a faulty connector located either at the ISAT's data link or the car's data link. Perform the following procedures to determine if you have a faulty data link connector.
CARS AFFECTED:
All 1994 900 Models (excluding Convertibles)
PARTS:
SAT Data Link Cable P/N 86 11 337
Connector Pin P/N 41 15 499
ACTION:
ISAT data link:
1. Check that all connector pins are perfectly parallel with the locating rail between the rows of pins.
If necessary, adjust the pins with a suitable tool without scratching or otherwise damaging the pins. A screwdriver with the tip protected by a piece of plastic tubing is recommended.
2. Check that no pin is backed-out (note that the two ground pins in the middle are slightly longer than the other pins).
Cables with backed-out pins must be replaced.
Vehicle data link connector (H16-1)
Check the data link connector for any pushed-in connector pins. If any are pushed-in, proceed as follows:
1. Remove the data link connector (2 screws).
2. Pull out any pushed-in pins and check that the connector retaining tabs (A) are intact and operable, see figure 2. Adjust if necessary.
If the connector retaining tabs (A) cannot be adjusted or have been broken off, replace the connector pin (P/N 91 21 112).
Instal the pin in the data link connector.
3. Connect ISAT and check that the communication works.
If it does not, remove the 6 housing tabs on the data link connector, see figure 3.
Install the data link connector and check its function with ISAT.
