Checking the Gear Positions





Check the gear positions as follows:

1. Insert a 5 mm drill bit through the locating holes in the gear lever housing and selector rod with 4th gear engaged, Figure 13.

2. If the drill bit does not go through the gear housing to the selector rod, adjust the gear positions.

Adjusting the Gear Positions

Adjust the gear positions as follows:

1. Engage 4th gear at the gear box.

2. Undo the pinch-bolt on the selector rod.

3. Loosen the rubber boot around the gear lever. Remove the screw securing the bezel for the boot. Remove the bezel.

4. Engage 4th gear using the gear lever and insert a 5 mm drill bit through the locating holes in the gear lever housing and selector rod, Figure 13.

5. Tighten the pinch-bolt with a torque of 30 - 33 N-m (22.2 - 22.4 lb.ft).

6. Replace bezel and secure. Replace rubber boot.
