Subject: New Special Tool for Changing the Output Shaft Bearing

Application: 1990- 9000 Turbo Manual Transmission


Saab has developed a new Press Ring tool needed for changing the output shaft bearing in M9O- 9000 Turbo cars with manual transmissions. The new tool, P/N 87 92 004, has 21 teeth and is designed for use in conjunction with Pinion Fixture, P/N 87 90 636. Refer to your 9000 Service Manual, Sec. 4:1, page 471-17, for dismantling and assembly instructions.


NOTE

This new Press Ring tool, P/N 87 92 004, has been designated as a required tool and will be automatically shipped to your dealership the week of May 20.

Unlike the 19 and 20 tooth press ring tools that are a slip fit, the new 21 tooth press ring requires a slight application of pressure during installation or removal. This change is due to a different machine process used in manufacturing the new tool.
