New wiring harnesses have been introduced in production from VIN N1016871 to prevent possible wire chafing or crimping in the trunk lid hinge. Please note as indicated in figure 1 that a new attaching point must be created when replacing old wiring harnesses with this new style.

All 1991-92 9000 CD Models

Trunk Harness 43 53 702 (supersedes 41 10 516)
Cable Harness 43 53 728 (supersedes 41 10 524)
Cable Harness 43 53 736 (supersedes 41 78 489)
Screw 84 10 961

Action:

1. Drill a 3 mm hole as shown in the diagram.

On some late 1991 cars and 1992 models up to VIN N1016871 a stud is already welded in this location during production. If such a stud is there, it is not necessary to drill the 3 mm hole.

NOTE:
When drilling the hole, be careful not to damage the outer body panel. Also make certain to rustproof the hole when finished drilling.





2. Clip the cable conduit to the hinge and secure the cable tie by means of a screw, P/N 8410961, or press the cable tie onto the stud (see figures 2 & 3).
