DTC 1E - Electric Detonator 1 Short to Battery Positive

MALFUNCTION
DTC 1E L: Electric detonator 1 shorting to battery positive.

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
1. Unscrew the steering wheel center pad (airbag module) and unplug the connector at the rear of the airbag.
2. Plug reference resistor 84 71 153 into the connector.
3. Unplug connector 59 and plug test cable 84 71 146 into the connector.
4. Use an ohmmeter to measure the resistance between each pin and battery positive.

NOTE: To prevent damaging the ohmmeter when resistance measurement to battery positive is carried out, do not ground it.

Switch ON the ignition and turn the steering wheel from full lock to full lock a few times during each measurement.
If any resistance reading is 1,000 ohms or lower - proceed to step 5.
If all resistance readings are higher than 1,000 ohms - proceed to step 7.
5. Unplug connector 335.
6. Repeat the measurement described in steps 1-4. If any reading is 1,000 ohms or lower, the fault is in the wiring between connectors 335 and 59. Investigate the cause. Rectify the fault or change the wiring as necessary.
If all readings are higher than 1,000 ohms, the fault could be in the contact unit which should then be changed. Proceed to step 7.
7. Change the contact unit, plug in all connectors. Clear the code and wait at least 40 seconds with the ignition switched ON.
If the trouble code persists, the fault could be in the wiring between connector 57 and the control module. Investigate the cause. Rectify the fault or change the control module as necessary. Before changing the control module, Programming and Relearning
