Diagnostic procedure

1 Check the battery as well as the starting and charging Systems. Also check other fault symptoms which indicate low battery capacity or poor generator charging efficiency.

2 Connect a Breakout Box to the car's wiring harness. The LH control module should not be connected. The ignition switch should be in the OFF position. Check that battery voltage is present across pins 4 and 5 and also across pins 4 and 17.

Connect the LH control module. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. Check that battery voltage is present across pins 9 and 5, pins 9 and 17, pins 35 and 5, and pins 35 and 17. If no voltage is present, check the wiring and grounding point.

3 Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. Disconnect the Breakout Box. Check that pins 5 and 17 are connected to ground.
