Fault symptom
The car runs on basic boost pressure only.
Conditions
No speed signal when intake manifold pressure exceeds 170 kPa.
Diagnostic procedure
1 Checking the speedometer
- Drive the car and check that the speedometer indicates a plausible speed.
Does the speedometer indicate a plausible speed?
YES Continue with point 2.
NO Check speedometer.
2 Check the power supply and grounding
- Ignition switch in ON position.
- Unplug the DI/APC control module and connect the test lamp to pins 22 and 34.
- Jack up one of the front wheels and rotate the wheel.
The test lamp should flash.
Result OK?
YES Continue with point 3.
NO Repair or replace the lead in question and proceed to point 3.
3 Final check
- Clear the diagnostic trouble code.
- Implementation of driving cycle:
Drive the car at varying engine loads and rpm for 5 minutes.
- Evaluation of driving cycle:
Check whether the diagnostic trouble code recurs.
Does the diagnostic trouble code recur?
YES Continue with "Before Control Module Replacement". Service and Repair
NO The steps taken to rectify the fault were correct.
