Windshield - Removal/Installation Procedures Revision

90saab01

FILE IN VOL.
S.I. Man. I

SEC. PG.

A-1 135

Issue: 12/89-1198
Subject: Windshield Removal and Installation

Application: 1990 900 Models

For 1990 900 models, the windshield removal and installation procedures have been changed as a result of the SRS (Airbag) installation in the 900 model line. These new removal and installation procedures are contained in the 900 Service Manual, Section 8:6 Airbag.

Because of the SRS, a completely new and different windshield retaining seal is employed. This rubber seal is fastened to the inside of the car and the glass is then glued to the seal. The redesigned seal is reusable if the removal installation instructions are followed.

While the part number for the windshield has not changed, the installation times for both the windshield and the seal have been increased to reflect the different procedures. See the October 1, 1989 Saab-Scania 900 Failure Code/Flat Rate Manual, pages 8-33 and 8-35 for the revised repair time schedule.

This S.I. provides the necessary lubricant fluid and adhesive part number information for 1990 900 windshield replacements.
