Subject: Bulb Repair Kit for the
Adjustable Seat Heater Switch

Application: 1987- 900 and 9000 Models


A bulb repair kit for the temperature control switch for the electrically adjustable heated seats has been developed. This kit offers an economical alternative to replacing the entire switch if a non-functioning bulb is the only fault with the switch.


Parts Required:

Bulb Repair Kit P/N 40 84 554

The kit contains a bulb and a cap with thumbwheel


Bulb Replacement Procedure


1. Remove the switch from the dash.


2. Bend the tabs out and remove the cap and thumbwheel.

3. Unsolder the bulb from the circuit board (Figure 1).


4. Use an ohmmeter to check the bulb continuity to determine that it is really the bulb and not the circuit board that is faulty.


5. Solder the new bulb into position.

6. Press the cap with thumbwheel into place. Ensure that the thumbwheel latches into the control arm (Figure 2).


7. Reinstall the switch.
