Remedy 8
To avoid damaging ohmmeter when measuring resistance to battery positive terminal, do not ground instrument.1. Remove steering wheel center pad (airbag module) and disconnect connector at rear of pad. Install reference resistor part No. 84 71 153 into connector.
2. Disconnect connector H2-37 and connect measuring cable harness part No. 84 71 146 into it. Use an ohmmeter to measure between each pin and battery positive terminal. Turn ignition On and turn steering wheel from full lock to full lock several times during each measurement.
3. If any resistance values are equal to or less than 5100 ohms, the fault is in the contact unit. Install new contact unit.
4. If all resistance values are greater than 5100 ohms, the fault could be in the wiring between connector H2-37 and electronic unit.
