Remedy 13

1. If fault is of intermittent type (S), install new contact unit. Then erase fault code and wait for at least 35 seconds with ignition switched On. If fault code is of permanent type (L), proceed to step 2.
2. Check pins and sockets of connector H2-37 for shorting. Connect connector, then remove steering wheel center pad (airbag module) and disconnect connector at rear of pad. Check connector pins and sockets for shorting. Install reference resistor part No. 84 71 153 into connector.
3. Erase fault code and wait for at least 35 seconds wit ignition switched On. If fault code persists, proceed to step 6. If fault has been cleared, fault is probably of intermittent type in contact unit, proceed to step 4.
4. Install new contact unit. Plug connector into rear of steering wheel center pad. Erase fault code and wait for at least 35 seconds with ignition switched On. If fault code recurred, install new steering wheel center pad.
5. Erase fault code and wait for at least 35 seconds with ignition switched On. Ensure fault code has been cleared.
6. Install new contact unit. Plug connector into rear of steering wheel center pad. Erase fault code and wait for at least 35 seconds with ignition switched On. If fault code persists, install new electronic unit.
