Remedy 12
1. Disconnect connector 335 and check that short-circuiting contacts open when connector is pressed together. Install connector halves together.2. Erase fault code and wait for at least 35 seconds with ignition switched On. If code persists, proceed to step 3.
3. Remove steering wheel center pad (airbag module) and disconnect connector at rear of pad. Check connector pins and sockets for shorting. Install reference resistor part No. 84 71 153 into connector.
4. Erase fault code. Switch ignition switch On. Turn steering wheel from full lock to full lock several times. Check if fault code persists. If fault code persists, proceed to step 6. If fault code has been cleared, proceed to step 5.
5. Fault could be in the steering wheel center pad. Check by connecting the connector into the steering wheel center pad again. Switch On the ignition and wait for at least 35 seconds. If fault code recurs, the fault is in the steering wheel center pad (airbag module). Install new airbag module. If fault code has been cleared, proceed to step 6.
6. Disconnect connector H2-37. Erase fault code and wait for at least 35 seconds with ignition switched On. Disregard fault code 27 if detected in this test. If code persists, proceed to step 8. If code has been cleared, proceed to step 7.
7. Fault is probably in contact unit. Check contact unit by connecting connector H2-37. Ensure reference resistor is connected. Erase fault code. Switch ignition switch On. Turn steering wheel from full lock to full lock several times. Check if fault code persists. If fault code persists, install new contact unit.
8. Fault could be in wiring between connector H2-37 and electronic unit.
