TO: Selected Saab Dealers
ATTN: Saab Service Manager
SUBJ: Inspection of Some 1990 900 Vehicles
A small number of 1990 model year 900 vehicles must be inspected to determine if the guide pins aligning the recliner mechanism on both the front seat backs were properly seated when the recliner attachment screws were tightened. If the guide pins should shift into their proper position, the recliner will rattle against the seat back frame. We ask your assistance in inspecting, and if necessary, aligning the guide pins and retightening the screws on any affected vehicle(s) delivered to your dealership.
Saab records show that you have received one or more of these vehicles. The attached status list contains the VIN(S) of the vehicle(s) that you have in your dealer inventory and, where applicable, the owner name(s) of the vehicle(s) that you have recently retailed.
For cars which have been retailed, please contact the owner(s) and arrange an appointment to have the inspection/correction done as soon as possible. For any listed car(s) in your inventory, please perform the work prior to delivery and as soon as possible.
Attached to this letter are inspection, guide pin alignment and screw tightening instructions. These instructions also contain the necessary warranty information. Submitting the warranty claim for the inspection will serve to confirm that the inspection/correction has been performed.
If there are any technical questions about this procedure, please contact your Saab Regional Technical Representative.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
