Application: 900 Convertible Models

To improve the closing action of the convertible top, two rubber bushings for the top stack (Figure 1) were introduced into production at VIN L7006824. The bushings cushion the closing action and prevent the top from contacting the windshield frame as the top is lowered. These bushings are suitable for installation on earlier cars.


Parts Required

Rubber Bushing (qty 2) P/N 75 13 724

Clip (qty 2) P/N 41 53 839


Bushing Installation Procedure

1. Adjust the position of the top as per step 1, page 800-4 in the 900 Service Manual 8:5 Convertible.

2. Slide the rubber bushings onto the clips (Figure 2).

3. Fit the bushing/clip assembly onto the hinge (one on the left side rail, one on the right side rail) between the front and middle side rail sections as shown in Figure 2.

4. Cycle the top stack to verify the closing action.

For those owners who have noted a problem during the warranty period, this repair will be covered under warranty. For warranty claims, use Failure Coding 81115-07-9-01-05. Time Allowance is 0.2 hours for both sides which should be entered as straight time.
