Latching handle assembly

To remove




1. Open the top halfway and remove the front screw in the seal retainer.




2. Mark the position of the seal retainer and remove the two securing nuts. Swivel the retainer up onto the top.




3. Remove the two nuts and the Phillips screw securing the latching handle assembly to the front section of the side rail.




4. Remove the screw securing the latching handle assembly to the no. 1 crossmember.




5. Unhook the spring.
6. Remove the latching handle pivot bolt and lift oft the latching handle assembly. Transfer the bolt, washer and bush to the new assembly.


To fit




1. Lift the latching handle assembly into position, insert the pivot bolt, bush and washer and tighten the bolt.




2. Hook on the spring.




3. Fit the two screws securing the latching handle assembly to the no. 1 cross member.




4. Fit and tighten the two nuts and the Phillips screw securing the assembly to the front section of the side rail.




5. Screw in the screw at the front of the seal retainer.




6. Seal the corner using Sikaflex 255 (30 07 127).




7. Press the seal into the retainer strip.




8. Thread the remaining nuts onto the bolts, leaving them slack.





9. Raise the top. Align the seal with the marks and tighten the nuts.




10. Check the adjustment of the latching hooks by latching the top in position and then pressing down on the front corners of the top. No play should be present.
