Binding or Slow Operating Front Windows
Application:
All 9000
A method for correcting binding or slow operating front windows on 9000 models has been developed. As indicated in Figure 1:
^ washers of varying thicknesses are added to the upper mounting point for the window regulator and to the lower mounting point for the front guide to correct binding
^ the metal lip of the inner door panel is bent inward slightly to correct slow operation of the windows
Cars Affected:
All 9000
Parts:
Washers 6 mm I.D: 3 mm, 1.5 mm and 4 mm thick
Action:
1. Remove the inner door trim panel.
2. Move the water shield from the top of the panel out of the way.
3. Loosen the upper mounting screw for the regulator.
4. Install the proper size washer (3 mm on left side door, 4.5 mm on right side door) between the regulator and the door panel. See Figure 1.
5. Tighten the screw.
6. Loosen the lower mounting screw for the front guide.
7. Install the proper size washer (3 mm on left side panel, 1.5 mm on right side panel) between the guide and door panel. See Figure 1.
8. Tighten the screw.
9. Using welding pliers, carefully bend the lip of the inner door panel inward (away from the glass) approximately 2 mm. See Figure 2.
10. Refit the water shield.
11. Refit the inner door trim panel.
12. Verify that the window operates properly.
