Impact Sensor: Application and ID

There are two front sensor versions, generation 1 (part No. 96 96 626) and generation 2 (part No. 40 32 132). On the generation 2 sensor the connector is integrated with the sensor while the generation 1 sensor has a short lead between the connector and the sensor.

All diagnostic procedures described are based on the generation 1 sensor. If the car concerned has generation 2 sensors, fault diagnosis of the wiring between connector 57 and the front sensor can be ignored.
