SUBJECT: FOLDING THE REAR SEAT BOTTOM
APPLICATION: 1989 9000 CD TURBO
ISSUE: 11/88-1092
The rear seat bottom cushion on the 1989 9000 CD Turbo may be folded forward like the 9000 5-door. Because this feature is provided for service access, the release strap is short and does not have a loop.
The seat can be folded to inspect the anti-lock braking system (ABS) wheel sensor connections, perform seat belt repairs or remove the door sill plates.

Folding the Rear Seat Bottom
1. To release the bottom cushion catch, reach between the cushions (Figure 1) and pull upward on the strap.
2. Tip the cushion forward so it stands on edge behind the front seats.
3. After returning the bottom cushion to its normal position, be sure that the center lap belt lays above the cushion. Also check that the bottom cushion is secured by the seat-cushion catch.
