SUBJECT: SERVICE CAMPAIGN TO RELOCATE APC ISSUE: 11/87-1014 OVERPRESSURE SWITCH
SERVICE CMPAIGN
APPLICATION: EARLY 1988 9000 TURBO WITH
MANUAL TRANSMISSION 308
Introduction
Beginning in early December, Saab-Scania of America will conduct Service Campaign 308 to inspect and, if necessary, relocate the overpressure switch located beneath the dashboard. The switch may have been improperly installed, presenting a risk of an electrical fault in the APC system.
Purchasers of affected vehicles will receive the owner notice pictured below. The owner notice advises the owner to contact their Saab dealer for a free inspection and repair. Owner notices for this campaign will be mailed on December 4, 1987. A status list of affected cars is attached to this Service Information. If no status list is attached, your dealership did not sell any of the affected cars, but you should nevertheless be prepared in the case of an inquiry.
There will be no parts or parts shipments involved with this campaign.

The service campaign notice pictured here will be sent to owners of the following 1988 9000 Turbos equipped with manual transmission:

Warranty Information
Use a regular warranty claim as in all Saab Service Campaigns. Follow the claim instructions given below. No additional parts or time may appear on the claim.

Labor Allowance: 10308 Relocate overpressure switch. 0.4 hours. (Includes 0.2 hour administrative time).

Repair Procedure
1. Locate the campaign Modification Plate and check for a stamp in position A2. If A2 is not stamped the overpressure switch must be relocated as described here. If position A2 is stamped this means that the car was corrected before it left the factory.
2. Remove the lower dash panel on the left hand side, above the driver's feet.
3. Locate the overpressure switch (Figure 1). Remove the vacuum hoses from the switch and remove the clip which secures the switch. Remove the switch.

4. Reattach the hoses so that the switch may be moved inside the plastic housing as shown in Figure 2.
5. Position the switch and secure it with cable ties (Figure 2). The switch should be secure enough so that it cannot rattle against the housing.
6. Refit the lower dash panel.
7. Mark the Modification Plate as follows:
Number 8, Position A2.
