Remove and Install

Injectors (B202)

WARNING
- Work only in a well-ventilated area. If approved equipment for the extraction of fuel vapor is available, be sure to use it.
- Wear protective gloves. Prolonged contact with fuel may give rise to skin irritation or dermatitis.
- Be mindful of the danger of causing sparks, such as when making and breaking electrical circuits, short circuiting components, etc.
- No smoking anywhere in the vicinity!
- Always have a suitable fire extinguisher near at hand.


Important
- When working on the fuel rail and injectors, take great care to keep everything clean.
- Wash the areas round the valves, fuel rail and intake manifold and blow clean with compressed air.





Removal

1 Blow clean with compressed air before starting removal.

2 Remove the bulkhead panel.

3 Remove the intake hose and the dipstick bracket.

4 Make sure you have some paper or the like handy to mop up fuel that runs out of the fuel rail or injectors.

Only -M1987: Disconnect the fuel return hose from the pressure regulator and the vacuum hose.

Unscrew the line from the fuel filter.

Only M1988-: Disconnect the delivery line and return line from the fuel rail.

5 Unplug the connectors from the injectors.

6 Remove the fuel rail from the intake manifold mountings, leaving the injectors in place.

7 Lift up the rail together with the injectors between the intake manifold and the bulkhead partition. On cars with a divided intake manifold, lift up the rail to the left.

8 Remove the clip(s) for the injector or injectors that are to be changed. Then remove the injector from the rail.


Fitting

Fit in reverse order.

Note: Lubricate the 0-rings with Vaseline to facilitate assembly.
