Operation
The climate control unit controls the following functions/units:

Ventilation fan 199, across speed control 220. The speed is steplessly adjustable, and the control is connected to pins 21 and 22.

Motor 222 for the air-mixing damper, which routes the air either through the heat exchanger or past it. The motor is connected to pins 6 and 7.

Motor 221 for the air distribution damper which guides the air through the defroster and/or ventilation air outlets. The motor is connected to pins 8 and 9.

Motor 198 for the recirculation damper. When the damper is closed, air is drawn from outside the car. When it is open (in the recirculation position), the air in the interior is recirculated. The motor is connected to pins 10 and 11 on the unit.

Electric heater 115 for the rear window and heater elements 207 for the outer rear-view mirrors, controlled across relay 113. The relay is connected to pin 24. The connection of the relay is shown in detail in the section entitled "Electric heating for the rear window".

Servo-motors 221 and 222 for the air-mixing and air distribution dampers are equipped with potentiometers which are mechanically connected to each shaft. The potentiometers provide information to the climate control unit on the angle of each damper.

The potentiometer for motor 221 is connected to pin 5, whereas that for motor 222 is connected to pin 17.
