ISSUE: 07/89-1157
SUBJECT: ROM CHIP HANDLING, PRECAUTIONS AND REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE FOR SAAB-ALPINE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM
APPLICATION: 1988- 900 MODELS (EXCLUDING CONVERTIBLES)
Should a remote transmitter be lost, a replacement ROM chip kit, P/N 02 46 322 will be required (in addition to a new transmitter) to maintain the same frequency for the transmitters and the alarm module. The kit consists of three chips; one for the module, one for the old transmitter and one for the new transmitter. Because of the delicate nature of the electronic ROM micro chips, the following handling precautions should be observed whenever a chip is replaced:
^ Work should be carried out in the cleanest area possible.
^ Work with clean hands.
^ Because static electricity can adversely affect the micro chip, do not work on a carpeted surface.
^ If available, a static-free work pad should be used.
