SYNCHRO MUFF:

The reverse gear brake mechanism in the above numbered cars can cause reverse gear block-out because it eliminates gearwheel rotation. The teeth of the reverse gear butt against the teeth on the synchro muff for 1st/2nd gear.

New gearwheels have been introduced with a modified chamfer of the teeth to correct this problem. These gearwheels may be installed in the above vehicles to correct a complaint of blocking out of reverse.
