Fuel Shut-off On Starting

- Test lamp 86 11 857

During starter motor cranking the supply of fuel will be shut off if the accelerator is depressed to the wide open throttle position (throttle position 72°).

1 Connect test lamp 86 11 857 to the connector of one of the injectors.




2 Run the starter motor and check that the test lamp flashes.

3 Depress the accelerator.

4 The test lamp should not flash while the starter motor is cranking the engine.

If it does, check the operation of the throttle position switch, see "Checking and adjusting the throttle position switch". Testing and Inspection

If the position switch is faulty, change it. Check the lead between terminal 3 of the position switch and pin 12 of the LH control module. Check the position switch's lead between pin 2 and one of the engine grounding points.
