Holding Tool for Relieving Strain on Engine

A holding tool for taking up the weight of Saab 9000 engines has been developed as an alternative to the relief yoke, P/N 83 93 977. The new holding tool is easier to install and leaves more room for working in the engine compartment. To install follow the procedures listed below:

Action:

Install the holding tool as follows:





1. Remove the rubber plug, or the clip (pipe bracket), over the AC pipes (1, Figure 1).
2. Fit the holding tool in position as show in 2, Figure 1. On M92- cars, it may be easier to move the AC pipes out of the way before fitting the tool. Be careful not to put excessive strain on the pipes.
3. Undo the bolt in the engine mount on the left-hand side (3, Figure 1).
4. Carefully tighten the bolt on the holding tool to take the weight of the engine (4, Figure 1).
