Supplies Needed

Saab Adhesive Kit 30-07-119
or
3M Super Fast Sealant 08609

Wooden Wedge (Application aid)

Pop Rivet 98-49-514

Repair Details

1. Remove the trim from inside the hatch.

Pinpoint the water leak by wetting the outside of the glass and blowing from the inside with compressed air.

Apply hand pressure to the inside of the glass and check for movement. This will also give you an indication of the sealing that will be necessary.

2. If the leak occurs at the high mounted brake light, unbolt the bracket for the light.

If the leak occurs at one of the parcel shelf stops, drill out the rivet and remove the stop.

3. Cover any exposed upholstery to keep it clean.
4. Use the degreaser from the windshield adhesive kit (or similar) and clean between the metal flange and the glass. Dry off with a clean, lint-free cloth.

5. Obtain a tube of sealant. Use either Saab Windshield Adhesive 30-07-119 or jobber supplied 3M Super Fast Sealant 08609.

Heat up (use hot water) and form the applicator tip to an angle of 30-40 degrees.

6. Form a block of wood into the shape shown at the right.

Use the shaped wood as a wedge and spread the glass away from the metal flange.

With the wedge in place, apply adhesive into the gap where leakage has occured.
7. Remount the parcel shelf stops and the high mounted brake light if necessary. Use rivets 98-49-514 for the parcel shelf stops.

Reinstall the trim.

Test for leaks.
