SUBJECT: CRUISE CONTROL MEMORY LOSS AND ISSUE: 05/87-963 NO POWER SUPPLY

APPLICATION: 1987 900S, 900 TURBO

During 1987 900 production a new cruise control electronic unit was introduced. During this introduction, two problems arose that may affect the operation of the system. Please see the following for a description and the corrective measures.

System Relay

Some incorrect relays were installed (see the drawing). The correct relay is black plastic and marked 95-63-099. Incorrect relays 85-91-455 are galvanized metal. Problems with the relay can cause a memory loss. They should be replaced with the correct version.

Relay (correct) 95-63-099
For warranty repairs use Failure Coding 36548-03-0-01-01 and Labor Operation #36548 (0.2 hour). Operation #36800 not allowed.

Power Supply

The plastic wall around pin 9(12V+) for the new control unit has been changed. On certain cars the black insulator over the wire connector is too large and can cause a loose or intermittent connection. Replace the old insulator with a new one 85-16-916.

Insulator (correct) 85-16-916

For warranty repairs use Failure Coding 36857-63-0-01-01. Labor allowance is 0.3 hour Straight Time. Operation #36800 not allowed.

Note: Electronic control unit 85-87- 016 supersedes to 95-60-905. When installing this control unit in an earlier car, relay 85-91-455 must be changed to 95-63-099.
