Connection of Pressure Testing Equipment

WARNING
- When carrying out any work involving fuel, the fuel supply or fuel injection, make sure that the premises are well ventilated.
- If approved extraction equipment for fuel vapor is available, use it.
- Since prolonged contact with fuel may give rise to skin irritation, suitable gloves should be worn.
- No smoking anywhere in the vicinity
- Always make sure that a suitable fire extinguisher is near at hand.

- Fuel pressure testing equipment 83 93 852
- Cable with switch 83 93 886





1 -M1987 (-M1988 for cars without cat.)
Undo the banjo union on the bottom of the fuel filter. On these cars the fuel pressure regulator is mounted on the right of the fuel-injection rail.

M1988- (M1989- for cars without cat.)
Make connection to the fuel-injection rail's pressure inlet.
Connect fuel pressure testing equipment 83 93 852 and its banjo bolt.
Make sure that no seal remnants enter the fuel system. Fit new seals.
Suspend the pressure gauge vertically to avoid incorrect readings (use a cloth or the like to mop up any fuel that leaks out).




2 Open the cover of the main fuse box. Extract fuses 14 and 22. Connect cable with switch 83 93 886 50 that power can be supplied to the fuel pump.
Check that the switch is in the OFF position.
