Throttle Body: Service and Repair

Throttle Body (not ETS)

Removal





1 Remove the hose before the throttle body.

2 Unplug the throttle position sensor connector.

3 Open the expansion tank cap and release the pressure in the cooling system. Screw the cap back on again.

4 Detach the hoses for throttle body preheating and plug them.

5 Detach the crankcase ventilation hose.

6 Remove the idle air control valve hose and the vacuum hoses from the throttle body.

7 Detach the throttle cable from the throttle lever. Cars with automatic transmission: Also detach the kick-down wire.

8 Remove the throttle body retaining bolts and lift out the throttle body.


Fitting





Important: Note the position of the 0-rings in the throttle body.

1 Inspect the mating surfaces and 0-ring. Fit the throttle body.

2 Connect the throttle cable.

Cars with automatic transmission: Also connect the kick-down wire.

3 Only cars with automatic transmission:

Check and adjust the kick-down wire, see page 241.

4 Connect the crankcase ventilation, idle air control valve and throttle body preheater hoses.

5 Plug in the throttle position sensor connector.

6 Fit the hose between the throttle body and mass air flow sensor.

7 Check the coolant level and top up as necessary.
