Service Information
SUBJECT: ON CAR TESTING AND CLEANING ISSUE: 10/86-902 ELECTRONIC FUEL INJECTORS
APPLICATION: 9000 MODELS
Insufficient detergent gasolines may cause injector contamination (fouling). Stalling, poor starting, rough idle or loss of power complaints may be an indication of dirty or clogged fuel injectors.
This Service Information contains instructions for detecting contaminated fuel injectors (see Fuel Injector Balance Test) and cleaning them if necessary using the Saab Fuel Injector Cleaner/Tester. Read these instructions carefully before proceeding.
Warning! The gasoline and cleaning solution used in this system are extremely flammable and is pressurized during the operation. Have a Class B fire extinguisher handy and keep all solutions away from flame, heaters or machinery which may produce sparks.
A Fuel Injector Balance Test must first be performed before any cleaning takes place. Prior to checking injectors, remember that the timing, pulse relation, compression, dashpot and throttle switch settings must be correctly set.
Notice: To use this device the vehicle fuel system must hold pressure (fuel pressure regulator and fuel pump check valve must be functioning properly). If it does not hold pressure, correct as necessary before proceeding.
