Safety FactorsDescription
The control module receives signals continuously from the ignition system and can calculate engine speed from them.
If engine speed exceeds 6,000 rpm the injectors are disconnected until engine speed drops. This is a safety measure to avoid damaging the engine. To protect the turbo engine from excessively high boost pressure, a pressure switch is fitted on cars equipped with the LH 2.2 system. It boost pressure climbs too high, the pressure switch cuts off the fuel pump's power supply.
On cars equipped with the LH 2.4 or LH 2.4.2 system, similar protection is provided by means of the load signal which, if it exceeds a certain limit, cuts off the pulses to the injectors.
If no more ignition pulses are generated, the fuel pump will stop.
