REFERENCE: RECALL NO. 268 - 9000 WIPER MOTOR BRACKET PROTECTION


Saab-Scania has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety

Administration that a defect which may be safety-related exists in 1986 Saab 9000 models. About 9590 vehicles are affected.



The wiring harness behind the removeable firewall, depending on how it was installed, may chafe against the windshield wiper motor bracket. If a short circuit develops, there is a risk of fire. Chafing is to be prevented by installing rubber protection strips on the edges of the metal bracket in question.

A Service Information and an initial supply of the necessary material will be sent to all dealers mid-to-late November. Owners of 1986 9000 models will be notified shortly thereafter.
