Solenoid Valve Testing

1. Disconnect wiring harness connector to the solenoid, the hose from solenoid ``R'' fitting at intake manifold and the inlet hose from the turbocharger.
2. Using jumper wires, connect battery voltage across solenoid terminals.
3. Solenoid should open with an audible click. Check that air passes through valve by blowing through disconnected hose.
4. Disconnect jumper wires. Solenoid should close valve and no air should pass.
5. Check orifice inside solenoid valve ``C'' fitting. Orifice should be 0.071-0.079 in. (1.8-2.0 mm) in diameter and free from dirt or obstruction.
6. If solenoid fails to operate as specified, or if orifice is not as specified, solenoid valve must be replaced.
