Selector Mechanism
The selector mechanism consists of selector forks, shafts, selector rod with detent ball and spring, actuators, reverse gear brake spring and selector interlock device with guide pin.TO DISMANTLE
1. Dismantle the gearbox as described under the heading "To Dismantle", up to and including item 12.
2. Remove the guide pin for the selector interlock device and remove the selector rod from the gearcase. The tubular dowel of the actuator and the tubular dowel for the reverse brake spring can then be removed by means of a drift, and the actuator, interlock device and spring can then be removed.
3. If the 1st/2nd selector fork is to be removed, the output shaft must first be removed. See the entitled "To Dismantle".
TO ASSEMBLE
1. Fit the output shaft and the 1st/2nd selector forks if they have been removed. See the section entitled "To Assemble".
2. Fit the actuator (interlock device and reverse brake spring) to the selector rod.
Insert the selector rod into the gearcase and fit the (interlock device and) guide pin. Make sure that the guide pin is fitted the right way in, since the selector rod will otherwise be locked when the side cover is fitted.
3. Continue assembling the gearbox under the heading "To Assemble", item 11.
