SERVICE

Cleaning the Car: Do not run through automatic car washes.

Cleaning the Top: Do not use harsh or abrasive type cleaners or bleaching agents on the top material or damage may result.

Wash with a mild soap lukewarm water and a sponge. Rinse the top with enough clean water to remove all traces of soap.

For heavier cleaning a mild foaming cleanser may be used in combination with a small, soft bristle brush. Do not let soap dry on the top otherwise soap staining may result.

Cleaning the backlight (rear window): Use water or a mild glass cleaner. Do not scratch or damage the rear defogger grids.



Special Tools: One special tool is required and will be automatically shipped to your dealership. The tool pictured here is required when installing a replacement top.
Owner Manual Supplement: One supplement is supplied with each car and is to be used in conjunction with the basic 900 Owners Manual supplied with the car.

Convertible Supplement P/N 03-08-510


Seat Belt Usage: The Saab 900 Convertible is a four passenger car. Seat belts are supplied for only four passengers.

Two 3-point inertia-reel belts are provided for the front seats and two retractortype lap belts are supplied in the rear. The rear belts have different buckle shapes. The left belt fits the right buckle and vice versa, i.e. the belts cross in the middle for proper spacing.



PDI Instructions:

1. Remove the rear seat and plug in the SaabGuard alarm system module. Alarm Owners Manual (p/n 02-70-538) is supplied with each car.


2. Route the Flashing LED Indicator harness (found tied up near the alarm module) under the carpet just inside the left door sill plate. Continue up along the left side of the firewall into the dash. Pull the LED out through the left front speaker opening (speaker grill removed).



Drill a 1/4" hole in the grill assembly 4" in from the rear of the grill and 2-3/4" over from the right edge. Lift the bezel off the LED and snap it into the speaker grill from the top. Insert the LED into the bezel from the bottom until it snaps into place. Re-install the speaker grill.

Perform a basic systems check.
3. Remove the protective fabric covering the top before delivery. Unlatch the top at the front bow and open the trunk to release the fabric.


4. Install the fuses which protect the top operating circuits:

No. 12 (in fuse panel) 15A

In engine compartment ahead of
the right front wheelhouse 25A
5. Cycle the top up and down to check the function. At the test drive check for and correct unusual wind noises or rattles. The handbrake must be applied before the top will operate.
