SUBJECT: REPAIRING CARS WITH MISSING/LOOSE END PIECES ISSUE: 02/85-740 FOR WINDOW TRIM, ALL 900
The black plastic window trim end piece which sometimes comes loose or falls off is now available as an individual spare part. Until now, the trim end piece was only available as part of the complete trim strip. A complete listing of end piece part numbers can be found below.
Before installing a new trim end piece or repairing a loose one, it is important to assess the reason for the problem in the first place. It may be necessary to cut a new piece to achieve a proper fit. A poorly fitting end piece will not stay in place even when glued.

REPAIR DETAILS
1. Position a new trim end piece and check the fit when installed. Due to the tolerances of the window trim strip, a new end piece may not fit snugly. The window trim may restrict the full travel of the end piece.
Determine what portion of the end piece needs to be altered and do so according to the drawing.
2. Apply an automotive trim adhesive (example - 3M Plastic and Emblem Adhesive) as shown in the shaded area of the drawing to the end piece and position it into place. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for application and proper curing time before delivering the car.
