SUBJECT: REPAIRING SPLASH-PROOF CONNECTORS, M84- ISSUE: 04/85-759

To improve the quality of the car wiring, splash-proof connectors are being used to a greater extent throughout the car. However, if it becomes necessary to repair a damaged connection of this type, a terminal already fitted with a length of wire must be used. Bare terminals are not available and cannot be installed without special tools.

Male Wire Terminal P/N 78-74-506
Female Wire Terminal P/N 78-74-498

These terminals come with a preinstalled length of wire (7.5", 200 mm) which must be connected or spliced to the existing cable. These cables have a conductor area of 1.5 sq. mm and can be used in all areas of the car. If the terminals are connected to a system with heavier conductors the wire should be shortened as much as possible.
