Rear Section of Center Console
TO REMOVE1. Move the front seats to the rear limit of their fore-and-aft adjustment and apply the handbrake.
2. Engage reverse gear and remove the ignition key.
3. Remove the handle for the choke control (if the car has a carburettor engine). Then push in the control to the closed position.
REMOVE THE SCREW AND PULL THE HANDLE OFF
4. Remove the two screws for the cover (top part of the console) and raise the cover so that the cables can be disconnected from the switch for the interior lighting. Then release the cover from the gear lever.
REMOVE THE GEAR-LEVER GAITER FROM THE TOP PART OF THE CONSOLE
5. Remove the ashtray at the rear of the console. Remove the five screws. Raise the console and remove the lamp for the ignition switch lighting. The console can then be released from the gear lever.
Assemble in the reverse order.
NOTE: On the Turbo and GLE models, the bellows piece at the radio console can be removed and refitted separately.
