Gear Lever Lock
GENERALThe car is equipped with a combined ignition switch and gear lever lock. When reverse gear is engaged and the ignition key is removed, the gear lever will be locked. The ignition switch has the following positions:
L Locked. Reverse gear must be engaged before the key can be turned to this position. The key can be withdrawn only when the gear lever is in this position.
The parking lights and hazard warning lights can be switched on when the ignition key is in this position.
P Parked. All lights can be switched on.
S Start. The key is spring-loaded to return from this position.
The gear lever lock consists of a locking plate (3) and gearwheel (4) actuated by a toothed segment (5) fitted under the lock barrel (6). The segment turns with the lock barrel.
