Service Campaign Allowance Information

SERVICE CAMPAIGN 503

The modifications outlined herein are to be treated as a service campaign. As per the October 1, 1982 Warranty Policies and Procedures Manual, a claim may be submitted for an eligible vehicle for work specifically prescribed by this service campaign whether or not the vehicle warranty has expired. Any M81-83 900 model could conceivably require these modifications. However, our main attention should be focused on the Turbo with automatic transmission operated in certain areas. To that end, owners of M81-83 Turbo automatics located in the following metropolitan areas and States will be sent a service campaign notice (see sample that follows):

Phoenix, Arizona Atlanta, Georgia
Tucson, Arizona Washington, D.C.
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Baltimore, Maryland
Texas Northern New Jersey
Louisiana New York City, Long Island
Florida and Westchester County
Boston, Massachusetts

Regardless of whether an owner of a potentially affected vehicle receives notice, a claim will be accepted for the specific applicable modifications prescribed herein. ("LEVEL 2" MUST HAVE PRIOR AUTHORIZATION.)
PDI UPGRADE ALLOWANCE

Henceforth all 1983 model year Saab 900 Turbos with automatic transmission should be modified to "LEVEL 1" (Steps C,D,E and F) prior to retail sale by all dealers in the above listed states/ metropolitan areas. Order sufficient parts for your current inventory of new 1983 Turbo automatics and for each subsequent wholesale purchase for the balance of the model year. For each such unit so modified, submit a claim according to the warranty information on p.3 of this S.I. under LEVEL 1, Automatics.
