Fuel Pump Capacity

1. Connect a hose to the fuel return line at fuel distributor, Fig. 8.
2. Insert other end into graduated container.
3. Disconnect injection relay and connect a jumper wire between terminals 30 and 87.
4. Switch on ignition and allow pump to run for 30 seconds exactly.
5. The fuel pump should deliver 900cc of fuel in 30 seconds. If it does not, check the fuel supply lines for blockage.
6. If the lines are clear, check for proper voltage at the fuel pump connections. Remove the cover plate from above the fuel pump, and check the voltage across the fuel pump terminals with the pump running. The voltage obtained must be above 11.5 volts. If voltage is good and the fuel lines are clear, replace the fuel pump.
