Hot Start Pulse Relay

SYSTEM FAILURE SYMPTOMS:
Prolonged cranking to restart a hot engine.

NOTE:
All normal CIS pressure checks must also be carried out.

TEST:

1. Disable the ignition system by disconnecting the primary circuit plug from the distributor.

2. Unplug -

a) Fuel pump relay (in main relay board)
b) Thermo-time switch (at intake manifold)

3. Connect a test light from +12V to the blue wire at the cold start injector plug (do not disconnect plug from cold start valve).

4. Engage the starter. The test light should begin to pulse after approximately two seconds of cranking.

5. If inoperative, check

a) +12V at pulse relay socket terminal 50 while cranking
b) Ground at terminal 31 of the pulse relay
