Knock Sensor System - Update

NEW KNOCK SENSOR AND CONTROL UNIT - 1983 APC TURBO
A new APC knock sensor (P/N 93 58 037) and control unit (P/N 93 58 359) has been introduced on the 1983 Turbo models.
The new sensor and control unit must be used together and must not be applied to earlier model cars.
Tools required for removal and installation of sensor:
^ 13mm socket 3/8" drive
^ 10" long extension 3/8" drive
^ Ratchet handle 3/8" Drive
^ Torque wrench 3/8" drive
Removal
1. Disconnect the wiring harness from the knock detector.
2. Remove the retaining bolt from the knock detector and lift the detector off the engine block.
Installation
1. Clean and oil the thread of the screw and the matching surface on the engine block.
2. Place the knock detector on the engine block. Install the bolt.
NOTE:
Install the knock detector so that the connection of the wiring harness is pointing forwards and turned 20° to the left.
3. Torque the knock detector bolt to 15 ft.lb. (20 Nm).
4. Connect the wiring harness to the detector.
