Two new radiators have been recently introduced into M84 car production and the spare parts system which supersede all previous radiators for 900 models from 1979 and up. They feature stronger, soldered construction and a more vibration resistant upper mounting. Due to the improved construction and insulation, a new mounting kit (P/N 88-17-579) is required when installing one of these radiators into an earlier car for the first time.
Radiator (Naturally-Aspirated) M79- P/N 75-41-063
Radiator (Turbo) M79- P/N 75-41-071
Mounting Kit (All) M79- P/N 88-17-579
Mounting Instructions:
1. Remove the old radiator.
2. Drill out the existing 4 mm holes in the upper cross-member to 6.5 mm (1/4").
3. Remove the sealing strip (P/N 83-37-875) from the fan housing and mount the fan and housing to the new radiator.
4. Fit the rubber strip (P/N 75-41-857) from the mounting kit to the top of the radiator frame and secure with the 3 clips from the mounting kit.
The sealing strip should fit up against the upper cross-beam when the radiator is mounted in the car.
5. Mount the rubber bushings from the kit to the radiator mounts and push the tubular spacers into the rubber bushings.
Fit the radiator and secure with the new bolts from the kit.
6. Fit the air intake tube to the upper cross-member.
In order for the intake tube to clear the larger radiator mounts, cut out a recess in the intake tube as shown in the drawing.
Warranty Information: For warranty purposes, when fitting this type radiator in a car with the above modifications, you can add 0.4 hr. in straight time to the regular R & R radiator operation #26110 (0.6 hr.).
