Radiator Fan Control

DESCRIPTION
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) turns on the radiator fan through fan relays. The transmission oil cooler fan and the radiator cooling fan operate on separate relays. Therefore, both fans can operate independently when one of three activation conditions are met. Refer to the appropriate wiring information. The wiring information includes wiring diagrams, proper wire and connector repair procedures, details of wire harness routing and retention, connector pin-out information and location views for the various wire harness connectors, splices and grounds.
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) provides fan control for the following conditions:
^ Radiator fan will run when engine coolant temperature has reached a certain temperature, and/or when the air conditioning clutch is engaged, the low pressure cutout switch is closed, and once a certain compressor head pressure is reached.
^ Transmission cooling fan will run when the transmission oil reaches a certain temperature.
^ Neither fan will operate during cranking until the engine starts no matter what the coolant temperature, A/C pressure, and/or transmission fluid temperature is indicating.
For radiator fan on/off and low/high speed operation condition specifications. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS.
