Timing Cover: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect negative cable from battery.





2. Remove radiator fan module (Fig. 130).
3. Remove accessory drive belts.
4. Raise vehicle on hoist and use Special Tool 8191 to hold crankshaft damper while removing center bolt.





5. Remove crankshaft damper (Fig. 131).
6. Remove the lower belt cover located behind the crankshaft damper (Fig. 133).





7. Remove the A/C belt guide/lift bracket (Fig. 132).








8. Remove the stamped steel cover (Fig. 133). Do not remove the
sealer on the cover, it is reusable (Fig. 134). If some sealer is missing use Mopar Engine RTV GEN II to replace the missing sealer.
9. Remove generator/power steering belt tensioner pulley and bracket.
10. Remove the left cast cover (Fig. 133).

INSTALLATION
1. Install left cast cover and generator/power steering belt tensioner pulley and bracket.
2. Install the right stamped steel cover.
3. Install the A/C belt guide/lift bracket (Fig. 132).
4. Install the lower cover.





5. Install crankshaft damper by tightening the nut of Special Tool 6792 (Fig. 135). Install the center bolt. Use Special Tool 8191 to hold damper and tighten center bolt to 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.).
6. Install accessory drive belts.
7. Install radiator fan module (Fig. 130).
8. Connect negative cable to battery.
