SYMPTOM
P1596 - SPEED CONTROL SWITCH ALWAYS HIGH

WHEN MONITORED
With the ignition key ON.

SET CONDITION
An open circuit is detected in the speed control ON/OFF switch circuit. The circuit must be above 4.8 volts for more than 2 minutes to set the DTC.

POSSIBLE CAUSES
- S/C wiring harness observable problem
- Speed control ON/OFF switch
- Clockspring signal/ground circuit open
- Speed control switch ground circuit open clockspring to S/C switch
- Speed control switch ground circuit open PCM to clockspring
- Speed control switch signal circuit shorted to voltage
- Speed control switch signal circuit open clockspring to S/C switch
- Speed control switch signal circuit open PCM to clockspring
- Powertrain control module
