Ignition Cable: Description and Operation

Ignition Wire Routing:

COIL WIRE
The ignition coil is built into the distributor assembly, so a separate coil wire is not used.

SPARK PLUG WIRES
The spark plug wires connect the terminals in the distributor cap to the spark plugs, allowing high voltage to flow to the spark plugs. The ignition wires have an internal resistance to suppress radio static and to eliminate static that may interfere with sensitive computer components.
