EGR Control Solenoid: Description and Operation

OPERATION

The EGR solenoid is duty control type solenoid valve. It controls EGR by regulating ported negative pressure to the throttle body A port.

Power supply from the battery is sent through the MFI relay to the EGR solenoid. When the engine control module turns off the power transistor inside the module, current no longer flows through the solenoid coil windings and EGR valve ported vacuum passes back to the throttle body.
